Run was decent today. Russ basically bullied me into doing The Loop that I declared I would NOT be doing...My goal was to run and feel comfortable. My target pace through my program was 10:08s I figured sticking as close to that as possible would help. And it did. Each mile fell somewhere between 9:35 and 9:55. I opted out of the assigned 13 miles and did 9 (I went into the run knowing I was only doing 9). Super cool temps and no sun at all made it pretty comfortable.
As I have mentioned, this loop is kind of tough....aside from contending with lots of traffic, road kill, rednecks flying by in pick ups, and weird wild animal rustles in the bushes--there are hills. Lots of hills.
At mile 2 a very steep hill. Not super long. But super steep. At 2.5 another hill--not as steep but longer. And then it is quite lovely for the next 1 1/2 miles. Until mile 4 hits. And then it is quite literally constant uphill for 1 1/4 miles. And I do mean hills (there is one area that for 1/10 of a mile it is downhill). From mile 5 something-6 there is some incline but at that point, does it even matter? And then 7-8 is all uphill as well.
But I did it. I think my legs are coming back and this run helped my mind as well. Kind of light week ahead in preparation for next weekend's race.
