As it so happens, my Recovery Week was a Super Recovery Week. I started the week feeling exhausted--the easy runs were torture. This seems to be the case with each Recovery Week--perhaps it is Recovery Week for a reason?
Anyhow, I had an existing boo boo on my foot (I hate using the word "scab" but...it was scabbed over). Occasionally it would be irritated when I wore certain shoes, but the cut was never re-cut. And then I spent the day in Boston--shoes irritated it--city dirt must have somehow contributed--long story short, by Thursday night by entire foot was hot, red and swollen. Antibiotics are already making a dent in the symptoms--the doctor said 7 days with no running. I scoffed at that--but the reality is, until there is no irritation/swelling/redness--I can't run. It would be stupid.
Logically a week off from running is not a big deal. But so much of running isn't logical.
