Hit the Blvd after school--it was cold and rainy (ok not really "rainy" per say...more like misty). Mile warm up was just fine. Tempo miles were target at 8:44s, my miles went: 8:38, 8:32, 8:33, 8:39 (thanks, Tommy!) Mile cool down was fine. Actually it was 1.25 cool down due to some poor calculation. But who's counting. Oh yeah. I am.
While running at the tempo pace I felt good. My breathing was pretty much fine. Legs felt good. But something happened with .6 left in the tempo portion. My mind abruptly "got me"--in hindsight it must have started creeping in a bit throughout that last mile....But all of a sudden I just stopped. I stopped. It wasn't even at a "normal" stopping point (like 4.25 or 4.5--it was 4.4). I walked for probably 5-8 seconds. Realized I was a f'ng moron. And finished the run.
While I am not thrilled that I found it acceptable to stop suddenly. I am glad I made myself finish the tempo.
Blvd was actually really nice to run on today since it had extra spring to it from all of the rain (though parts were impossible to stay dry on...).
And sometimes I have to laugh because I take myself WAY too seriously. Especially for someone who is an average, middle or the road runner.
