Thinking that maybe a tempo run 4 days after a 10K race might not be the best idea? I had two days of Easy Runs and today's tempo was rough. So rough that I decided it wasn't a good idea to push through it. I am taking on a pretty high mileage training program. And I am on the fence about whether or not it will be too much for me. I also have some apprehensions about the lack of interval training (same program format I used for the 10K).
Erin and I used the Runner's World FIRST program last year. It worked well--but I wanted something with more mileage this year. I do highly recommend the FIRST program, particularly because it is literally 3 days a week of running. That is it. Granted you should do some cross training on non-running days, but by the end of training, I simply ran three times a week and called it good enough.
Erin and I ran the half last year with our pace being 20 seconds or so faster than what we had trained for. So hey, it works.
Erin--it is your turn to blog. The masses are waiting.
And why are we not doing that program again?! I am pretty sure I won't be able to feel my legs by the time the long run comes on Saturday. And my blogging would be too boring!
ReplyDeleteI know it would be boring. Or extremely inappropriate. You are doing it. We'll talk tonight?
ReplyDeleteYou guys worry too much.
ReplyDeleteERIN! ERIN! ERIN!
